SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta today held a high level meeting of civil and police administration to take stock of arrangements made for the upcoming Shri AmarnathJi Yatra, 2022. Dr Mehta enjoined upon the officers that the experience of yatris on pilgrimage to holy cave should be a pleasant one and all of them should turn as the ambassadors for promoting J&K as a better tourism destination. He stressed on them to ensure that all pilgrims have a swift passage at the checkpoints and no yatri should have to wait for more than 30 minutes while going into the base camps.

  • The rights of weaker sections enshrined in constitution were denied for 70 long years, benefits of development were not allowed to reach the last man in the queue. PULWAMA: Marking a historic day for the development of Tribal population of Pulwama, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today inaugurated 5 projects including Model Tribal Transit Residential School, Girl Hostel, and laid foundation stone for 18 other projects for the welfare of Tribal Community in the district. The tribal population of Pulwama witnessed inauguration of projects worth Rs 11.47 Cr, and laying of foundation stones for new projects worth Rs 39.86 Cr aimed at development and welfare in tribal areas.

Yesterday, at about 1745hrs, on a specific input generated by Kulgam Police regarding presence of terrorists in village Gundipora area of Pulwama, a joint cordon & search operation was launched by Pulwama Police, Army (55RR) and CRPF (182/183Bn) in the said area.

 During the search operation, as the joint search party approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists hidden in the residential house of Nazir Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Sultan Mir fired indiscriminately upon search party which was retaliated leading to an encounter.

ANANTNAG: As Shri Amartnath Ji Yatra (SAJY) 2022 is all set to be held after a gap of 2 years, the District Administration Anantnag has set in motion a detailed sanitation plan to ensure cleanliness in the district. Municipal Committees and Community Development blocks falling on the Yatra route are buzzing with activities in ensuring that all necessary conveniences are ready for use by the time the Yatra commences.
