DC Jammu conducts extensive tour of Block Samwan of Tehsil Khour, listens to public grievances, inaugurates 24x7 e-Library

JAMMU: To get first-hand account of the public grievances, Deputy Commissioner, Avny Lavasa today conducted an extensive tour of Block Samwan in Tehsil Khour in which DDC members, delegations besides scores of individuals apprised her about the problems being faced by them in day to day life. The PRI members one by one highlighted the issues regarding their respective Panchayats which were mainly related to irregular supply of water and electricity, Revenue, compensation, ration card, IAY, Road connectivity, drinking water availability, instalation of hand pumps, health centres etc.

Dr Sehrish e-inaugurates 36 Smart Elementary Schools, 18 Primary & Middle Schools under ADP

BARAMULLA: In a bid to upgrade the educational infrastructure in the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today chaired an Education Department meet through Zoom wherein various developmental activities were carried out for the betterment of the education institutions.  During the meeting, the DC e-inaugurated 36 Smart Elementary Schools, 18 primary and 18 Middle schools under Aspirational District Programme.  These schools were modernized with ECCE outlay; Digital infrastructure and renovated on modern lines.

Div Com reviews road clearance mechanism in wake of winter season

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, today convened a meeting with R&B Engineers, NHAI and BRO to review mechanism being put in place for snow clearance during ongoing winter season in snow bound districts of Jammu division. Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned Chief Engineers to ensure availability of snow cutter machines in all district headquarters so that clearance of snow from roads is ensured at an earliest. He asked them to keep men and machinery ready for snow clearance and dewatering pumps in case of water logging.

People want to be heard & expect quick action from the administration, says the LG

JAMMU: Effective handling of complaints and grievances is fundamental to accountability and prompt resolution of public concerns in a timely & cost-effective way, said the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha while interacting with people during the latest edition of “LG’s Mulaqaat”- Live Public Grievance Hearing programme, at the Civil Secretariat today.

The Lt Governor directed the officers to strengthen public confidence. He also passed on-spot directions to resolve their complaints. People want to be heard and expect quick action from the administration. LG’s Mulaqaat has emerged as a people-friendly platform, which enables & values complaints & ensures grievances are handled promptly and accountability is fixed for further improvements, the Lt Governor observed.

Kashmir Handicraft Artisans honoured with 2 Shilp Guru, 6 Nat'l awards

NEW DELHI: Handicraft artisans from Kashmir have brought laurels to the Valley by bagging two Shilp Guru and six National level awards in different craft categories. The Shilp Guru Awards are given to legendary master crafts persons in recognition of excellent craftsmanship, product excellence and the role played by them as gurus in the continuance of crafts to other trainee artisans as a vital part of traditional heritage.

The Awards were started in 2002, to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the resurgence of Handicrafts in India. JAMMU: Beekeeping ventures across J&K have emerged as epitome of new business among the local unemployed youth. Many people in Jammu and Kashmir, most of them youth, are able to earn a livelihood, because of honey bee colonies that have come up in different regions across J&K. With time, more and more young men and women are turning towards bee-keeping as dozens of local honey brands have earned good reputation across the markets.

Honey processing units established under the apiculture development scheme will go a long way in helping the bee-keepers as the department is facilitating the processing of crude honey produced by the farmers free of cost. The bee-keepers are provided with a logo as well as testing for successful marketing of honey for remunerative returns.

IIM Jammu hosts workshop on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Workplace

JAMMU:   Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu on Monday hosted a workshop on "Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace" for faculty, officers and staff here at its Canal Road Campus. The workshop was conducted by  Neeta Verma, Advocate, a notable Member of the Supreme Court of India.  Advocate Neeta Verma is the State President of, the Women Protection Human Rights Mission, Jammu and Kashmir, and a Member of the International Council of Jurists in London, England.

The workshop gave an insight into “Sexual Harassment at Workplace - Acts and Rules. The Do's and Don’ts prescribed in the act, ways to prevent gender-based malpractices, and the current judicial scenario was explained during the workshop. The event commenced with an introductory address by Dr. Sushant Bhargav, Assistant Professor, IIM Jammu followed by the introduction of the speaker by Dr. Mamta Tripathi, Chairperson, Sexual Harassment Committee, IIM Jammu.

Samba admin starts 3 Month training for Youth aspiring to join Army, Paramilitary forces

Dist Admin Gbl orders withholding salary of AEOs/ AEAs of Kangan subdivision

GANDERBAL: The District Administration Ganderbal ordered that the salary of all Agriculture Extension Officers (AEOs)/ Agriculture Extension Assistants (AEAs) of Sub Division Kangan shall remain withheld till the targets under PM Kissan are achieved in full up to 30th November, 2022.

The order was issued after the Additional District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani was directed by the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal to conduct joint meeting of Agriculture and Revenue Department for better coordination and early completion of work related to PM Kissan in Kangan Subdivision on November 26, 2022 and all concerned were informed well in advance for scheduled meeting.

Police busts AGuH terror module in Sopore, arms & ammunition recovered in Awantipora

25th National E-Governance Conference: Tourism Deptt organizes first of its kind ‘Virtual Tours’ of J&K tourist destinations

KATRA: Tourism Department today displayed the first of its kind images of Tourist destinations at the two-day 25th National Conference on e-Governance held at Katra. The virtual tours of the tourist locations is captured on a Meta quest VR headset in 360 degree 3D video. A team of experts has produced multi dimensional Nano videos of tourist places of J&K offering a magnificent and ultra-HD visibility of pristine and beautiful meadows of Bhaderwah, the twin lakes of Mansar-Surinsar, the magnificent Gurez Valley and the splendid Dal Lake.

The adventure activities particularly rafting, paragliding and Cable Car/Gandola ride were also brought live into action by these virtual tours. Repeal of Art 370 also thwarted Pak ISI’s notorious design about Jammu: Rana

HxMDP- Joint Programme of IIM Jammu, AIIMS Jammu and RFHHA ends on a positive note

Atal Dulloo reviews working of Farmer Producer Organizations in Jammu

JAMMU: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Agriculture Production Department, Atal Dulloo, today held a meeting to review working of Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) in Jammu division. Additional Chief Secretary had a detailed assessment of progress achieved by the Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) formed under Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) since February 2020 in the division.

Vice Chancellor, SKUAST Jammu, J P Sharma, HoDs of Agriculture and allied departments besides representatives of concerned implementing agencies were also present in the meeting who briefed about the performance of the FPOs of Jammu division. The concerned authorities and implementing agencies like NABARD and Cluster Based Business Organizations working with various agencies were also present along with Chief Executive Officers of various FPOs were also present on the occasion.

Constitution Day: Judicial Academy organizes workshop, special skill enhancement training for Civil Judges of Jammu Province

JAMMU: To commemorate the spirit of Constitution on the occasion of Constitution Day, J&K Judicial Academy under the patronage of Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, (Patron-in-Chief, J&K Judicial Academy), organized one day workshop and special skill enhancement  training programme on “Leadership role of the Judge in Court Management including Case and Time Management, Control of Docket Flow, Managing Stress; Canons of Judicial Ethics and Behavior; Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct, Code of Conduct, Qualities of a Judge, Communication skills and Personality development”  for Civil Judges (Senior and Junior division) of Jammu Province at Judicial Academy, Jammu.

ACS visits Mega Fruit Plant Nursery, Chakroi, R S Pura; Inspects development works

JAMMU: Additional Chief Secretary, (ACS), Agriculture Production Department, Atal Dulloo, today visited the Mega Fruit Plant Nursery, being developed at Chakroi, R S Pura. The nursery will be the first of its kind in history of the department exclusively for production of cultivars of high density fruit plants which will cater to requirement of farmers of Jammu province to a great extent.

High Courts of J&K, Ladakh celebrates 73rd Constitution Day

JAMMU: High Court of J&K and Ladakh today celebrated 73rd Constitution Day by organizing preamble reading of the Constitution of India in the Jammu and Srinagar wings of High Court.

At Jammu, Justice Tashi Rabstan led the preamble reading of the Constitution by all the participants including the Judges of High Court, officers and officials of the registry. After reading of the preamble, Justice Tashi Rabstan interacted with the participants and congratulated them on the Constitution Day. He said that the constitution is not static but a living document adding that our Constitution framers had realized that a Constitution, no matter how well written and how detailed, would have little meaning without the right people to implement it and to live by its values.

JAMMU: After the completion of Delimitation exercise in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, the Election Commission of India ordered Pre-Revision activities in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir on 10th June 2022, which primarily included the task of mapping the existing Electoral Rolls of 83 pre-delimitation constituencies to the post-delimitation 90 Constituencies, in accordance with the Delimitation Commission’s Order, rationalization of polling stations and integrations of the electoral rolls. On completion of post delimitation follow- up and pre-revision activities, the Commission ordered Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, with reference to 01-10-2022 as the qualifying date.

Drug Control Deptt conducts massive checking drive in Jammu City

RBI conducts intensive consumer financial awareness program at Doda

GDC Neeli Nallah celebrates Communal Harmony Week

Doda Admin goes tough against absenteeism, conducts surprise inspection of offices to check attendance, delivery of services

DODA: To evaluate the public service delivery in the government offices including Schools and Hospitals, District Administration Doda, under the directions of Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan, conducted inspection of the government offices, schools and hospitals across the district. ADM (ADC Doda) inspected the offices in Doda town, while ADM (ADC Bhaderwah) inspected offices in the Bhaderwah town. All SDMs and Tehsildars visited the government establishments in their respective jurisdiction.

95 Doda women entrepreneurs complete training to avail benefits of Tejaswini Scheme

DODA: A group of 95 women aspirants completed their training under Tejaswini scheme of Mission Youth initiative under the  Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP). The EDP was held at JKEDI, District Centre, Doda with effect from October 29 to Nov 11, 2022 in which women aspirants within the age group of 18-35 years were trained for self-employment and entrepreneurship development. The candidates were trained for services, trading, manufacturing and agri-allied activities under the Tejaswini (the Radiant scheme of the Mission Youth J&K).

3rd UT level NCORD meeting - Fight against drugs a collective task: Mehta

JAMMU: Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta today held the 3rd UT Level NCORD meeting to take a comprehensive review of efforts being made to mitigate the menace of drugs here. The meeting was attended by ACS, Agriculture Production; ACS, Home; Principal Secretary, School Education; Divisional Commissioners, Jammu/Kashmir; ADGP, Kashmir/Jammu; Secretary Health; MD, NHM; Excise Commissioner; State Drug Controller; Zonal Director, NCB Jammu; SSP, ANTF and all the Deputy Commissioners and District SPs.

PMAY-Urban scheme - Take strict action against low performing EOs, complete targets within set timelines: Div Com directs DCs

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar on Thursday chaired a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and officers of Housing and Urban Development department to review the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna-Urban (PMAY-U) in the districts of the division. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta; MD J&K Housing Board, Dr Shabir Hussain;  Director Urban Local Bodies, Puneet Sharma; Joint Commissioner JMC, Chief Manager J&K Bank. The Deputy Commissioners of Jammu division along-with other Enforcement officers, consultants and concerned officers attended the meeting through video conferencing.
