JAMMU: Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta today inaugurated the integration of Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) portal, having Auto-Appeal System feature with the eUNNAT here at Civil Secretariat. On this occasion, the Chief Secretary said that this is another step by the J&K government to provide a major impetus to transparent, citizen friendly and efficient governance.

JAMMU: Employment Fair (Yogeta –se-Rozgar Mela) was today held across the Districts of Jammu Division as part of 4th edition of Back to Village programme. The proceedings of the ‘Rozgar Mela’ started with the virtual address of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, who extended his congratulations to 3,000 youth, who received appointment letters to work in the government departments in Jammu and Kashmir. The Prime Minister described Jammu and Kashmir as the pride of every Indian, and said that it is time to leave behind the old challenges and take full benefit of new possibilities.

JAMMU: The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the Jammu & Kashmir Rozgar Mela via video message today. Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister marked today as an important day for the bright youth of Jammu & Kashmir. He congratulated all three thousand youths that received appointment letters to work in the government in 20 different places in Jammu & Kashmir. He informed that these youths will get opportunities to serve in various departments like PWD, Health Department, Food and Civil Supplies Department, Animal Husbandry, Jal Shakti, and Education-Culture. The Prime Minister further highlighted that preparations are in full swing to hand out more than 700 appointment letters in other departments in the coming days.

MoHUA approves Rs 1665.10 cr action plan for J&K under AMRUT 2.0

SRINAGAR: The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), in its fifth APEX committee meeting approved UT Water Action Plan (UTWAP) for 153 projects amounting Rs. 1665.10 crore for 78 ULBs of J&K under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation of Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0. Principal Secretary, H&UDD, Dheeraj Gupta, made a presentation on the action plan to the Apex Committee.

The meeting, held under the Chairmanship of Union Secretary MoHUA, Manoj Joshi. The UTWAP will be covering 99 projects under Water Supply, 4 under Sewerage and Seepage Management besides 50 Water Bodies.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh e-inaugurates four vital BRO projects in Rajouri

RAJOURI: Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh today e- inaugurated four vital projects of BRO in Rajouri. These projects included two roads and two bridges. The roads constructed by BRO include Pouni-Kalakote-Rajouri Road and Rajouri-Kandi-Budhal Road in the Border district. The Defence Minister also e-inaugurated two bridges Suktoh Bridge over Gambhir Nallah and Deeing Bridge in Nowshera tehsil.

Police busts human trafficking gang in Budgam, 3 arrested,  14 women victims rescued

SRINAGAR: Police in Budgam have busted human trafficking gang by arresting 03 accused involved in the commission of crime. 14 women victims have also been rescued and more arrests are expected in the instant case. Acting upon an information of human trafficking being operational in the district, a police team of police station Budgam raided a particular place in village Dulipora and rescued 14 women victims (including some minors) from the house of one namely Shamim Ahmad Bhat son of Ab Rehman Bhat resident of Dulipora Parthan and adjacent places.

J&K govt re-constitutes Professional Board of Anantnag Central Cooperative Bank Ltd

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir government has re-constituted Professional Board of Anantnag Central Cooperative Bank Limited. As per an order issued here today by the Cooperative department in this regard, the sanction to re-constitution of the Board has been accorded in terms of Sub-Section (1) (a) of Section 30-B of the Jammu and Kashmir Cooperative Societies, Act 1989, for implementation of revival package(s) sanctioned by the Government of India/UT of J&K to enable the Bank to achieve a Capital Risk Adequacy Ratio (CRAR).

IUST-GMC Srinagar Sign MoU on Research and Academic Collaboration; Partners on Intl Workshop on AI & IT in Surgery and Medical Research

SRINAGAR: A Two-Day International Workshop on ‘Role of Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology in Surgery and Medical Research’ in which Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora is collaborating as Academic Partners began at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar today. 

The workshop being organised by the Department of Surgery, GMC Srinagar in collaboration with a global open platform for research collaboration, Open Source Research (OPSORE). On this occasion a crucial Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between IUST and GMC to promote use of modern technology in health care and to encourage collaborative research.

Breast cancer: DAK seeks mammography facilities at primary health centers

SRINAGAR: With rise in breast cancer cases in Kashmir, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) on Friday has sought mammography facilities at valley’s primary health centers for early detection of breast cancer cases. “Having regular mammograms can lower the risk of dying from breast cancer,” said DAK President Dr Nisar ul Hassan. Dr Hassan said mammogram is the X-ray of the breast. It is the best way to detect breast cancer early before there are signs and symptoms of the disease.

JAMMU: Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta today chaired a meeting of Administrative Secretaries and Deputy Commissioners before commencement of the Back to Village-4 (B2V4) programme in the UT of J&K. Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary remarked that much of the necessary infrastructure, especially schools, roads, colleges and power infrastructure, has been constructed throughout J&K and the B2V would provide an opportunity for its first hand assessment. The programme would serve as an occasion for building capacity and noting gaps in infrastructure and delivery of services against norms.

2600 Tablets of ‘Tapal’ (Tapentadol) seized by Drug Control Organisation from Drug Peddler

SRINAGAR: Taking cognizance of the specific input, a team of Drug Control Officers seized 2600 tablets of TAPAL -50 and TAPOL -100 with batch no ARC05016A and BRCO7073A manufactured by M/s MSN Labs Pvt Ltd Mekangund Telangana-509228 from the consignee Hilal Ahmed Mir R/o Behrampora Baramulla from the presence of incharge Trackon courier services. 

The action was taken under the active support of the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole by a team of Drug Control Organisation headed by Deputy Drug Controller Kashmir, Shah Nighat comprising of Drug Control Officers of District Srinagar and Budgam Junaid Naseer, Sameer Sajad, Rumeesa Mohammad. The Trackon Courier delivered the said consignment to Hilal Ahmad from whose possession the consignment was immediately seized by the team. The consignment was clearly meant and distributed through the unregulated channels to cause addiction amongst the youth.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce; Directors of Industries, Jammu/Kashmir; MD SIDCO & SICOP and many other concerned officers in person or through virtual mode.

Dr Mehta impressed upon the officers to ensure that each of the prospective unit holder is facilitated to establish their units in a hassle-free manner. He asked them to have interdepartmental coordination for better performance under single window system created by the government.

Various hospitals de-empanelled under SEHAT scheme, reports about suffering of dialysis patients’ half-truth: SHA

  • Agency provides Rs 792.5 cr to empanelled hospitals, so far

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir State Health Agency today stated that 43 hospitals and dialysis centres have been empanelled till now under the SEHAT scheme in Kashmir division. On an average, these centres cater to over 452 dialysis patients on a daily basis.

Reacting to a report, carried in a section of a press, regarding sufferings caused to some dialysis patients, the SHA has said that Khyber Hospital, through emails on August 10, 2021 and November 20, 2021 had requested the Agency for empanelment. The State Health Agency held several meetings with the administration of the Khyber Hospital, requesting it to continue the services as an empanelled hospital under the Scheme.

JAMMU: Government of Jammu & Kashmir has conceived a pioneering initiative of youth clubs to engage and empower youth as partners in governance under the aegis of Mission Youth..The clubs established in 2021 aim to offer the youth of J&K an opportunity to become change-makers and around 4,290 clubs have been formed. The volunteers in youth clubs are trained to work through real challenges and make meaningful change. These volunteers develop a civic identity as leaders and change-makers and become socially more socially active.

Husband gets life-imprisonment for killing wife

UDHAMPUR: Principal Sessions Judge  Udhampur  Y. P Bourney  today awarded life-imprisonment to , Ashok Kumar S/o Hem Raj R/o Rassili Thakrai Tehsil Basantgarh, District Udhampur  who was facing trial for the murder of his wife for the last 6 years.

According to the police case, the accused strangulated the deceased with her dupatta during the night of 17th May 2016 when she was asleep in their bedroom and dumped her dead body in the Dhol nullah etc. It led to the registration of case vide FIR No: 53/2016 for offence under section 302 RPC and setting into motion of the investigation, which ultimately culminated into the presentation of instant charge sheet before Ld. Judicial Magistrate, 1st Class Ramnagar on 18.07.2016. The Ld. Magistrate took cognizance of the offence and committed the charge sheet to this Court for its disposal under law.

SRINAGAR: A meeting of District Level Review Committee (DLRC) was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammed Aijaz Asad at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, here to review the overall performance of the Banks and other Financial Institutions under 2nd quarter of Annual District Credit Plan of Srinagar District for financial year 2022-23.

At the outset, the DC was informed that at the end of 2nd quarter (September, 2022) under review total Deposits of the District Srinagar stood at Rs 32307.56 crore and Advance at Rs 21645.19 Crore constitute 67 percent CD Ratio. Besides Banks have disbursed Rs. 3147.47 crore among 70111 beneficiaries under Annual Credit Plan for financial year 2022-2023, which includes Rs 835.51 Crore under priority sector and Rs 2311.95 Crore in non-priority sector.

CBSE organises National Conference on Inclusive Education

JAMMU: Central Board of Secondary Education organized a 2-day National Conference on Inclusive Education. The conference was hosted by CoE Chandigarh and Jammu Schools on 21t and 22nd Oct 2022 at Teachers’ Bhawan, Gandhinagar. The two day Conference aimed at Inclusive Education, focusing that all students, irrespective of any difference they may have, are placed in age – appropriate general education classes to receive high quality instruction, interventions and support that enable them to meet success in the core curriculum.

The inaugural session on day one commenced with the welcome address by Dr Ramshankar, Director Training. SRINAGAR: Underlining the importance of New India Literacy Program (NILP) for adult education, Principal Secretary, School Education, Alok Kumar, said that the worrisome figure of 256.6 million for the number of illiterates in the age range of 15 and older revealed in the 2011 census called for a national intervention. Principal Secretary, who also holds the charge of Director State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), stated this against the backdrop of five-day workshop on resource creation for adult education, jointly organised by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi, and the SCERT. The workshop concluded at the SCERT auditorium at Bemina on Friday.
