Tourism Directorate Jammu organises maiden Two Day ‘Sinthan Festival’ at Sinthan Kishtwar

KISHTWAR: A two day maiden ‘Sinthan Festival’ was inaugurated today at Sinthan Maidan Kishtwar by the Department of Tourism, J&K in  collaboration with District Administration Kishtwar, Indian Army and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.  The two Day Mega Cultural cum Adventure extravaganza was inaugurated by DDC Chairperson, Kishtwar, Pooja Thakur and Deputy Commissioner,  Devansh Yadav , Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Bharat Singh Manhas and Joint Director Tourism Jammu, Sunaina Sharma Mehta .

The first day of the festivities witnessed Padri Folk performance, Live singing performances by Samridhi Sen, Shoaib Kandoo, Wasim Malik and other local singers besides mesmerizing dance performances by local artists and performers.  Star performer Zahida Tarannum, Nikhil Manjotra, Aditya Rao also enthralled the audiences with their melodious singing presentations.   In their scintillating performances, College students exhibited their talent with enthusiasm and passion at the mega ‘Inter-College Group Dance Competition’ held at the maiden ‘Sinthan Festival’.

Unregistered Vehicles on roads to face hefty Fines & Imprisonment under MVA

  • MVD Kashmir issues SOPs to tackle Unregistered Vehicles

SRINAGAR: In view of rising instances of unregistered vehicles plying on the roads, the Regional Transport Officer Kashmir has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to address the same.  According to the SOPs, the first offence of an unregistered vehicle being found on roads will be met with a ₹5,000 penalty under the Motor Vehicles Act, while the second offence will result in a ₹10,000 fine or a prison sentence for the owner which may extend to one year, or both. 

Additionally, non-display of registration mark on High Security Registration Plates (HSRPs) will be similarly punishable. "The showrooms must adhere to the rule of releasing vehicles with registration numbers on HSRP without fail. In case it is found that dealers have violated this norm, not only will the face penalty under MVA, but they will be held liable for any crimes committed using such vehicles", an RTO official said.

District admin organises mega anti drug awareness camp in Government Degree College Rajouri

 All the speakers threw light on the setback being caused by the menace of drug abuse in the society. They deliberated in detail how its tentacles are spreading the grip on our younger generation and pose a serious threat to the society as a whole.

Mr Azad said that there has been a trend in past that local legislatures would visit their constituencies and seek vote from people while making promises but would never return to his people until next election arrived.

Srinagar Admin conducts inspection of City markets to check quality of ready to eat food items

SRINAGAR: On the directions  of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, the team of Food Safety Department today conducted a special drive in various markets of Srinagar City to check the quality and prices of the food item.  A team of Officers headed by Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Designated Officer under FSSA Srinagar, Yameen ul Nabi carried out a surprise market checking in Nowpora, Khyam Chowk and other adjoining areas of the City to check the quality of ready to eat food items being sold in the area.

The team of Food Safety lifted various samples of ready to eat food items from Food Business Units operating in Khyam Chowk and other areas. The samples were sent for analytical purposes to the laboratory.  The Team also conducted market checking in the Chanapora area and inspected several Bakery and other Food Business Units in the area.

The concept is different, appreciable, he added and hoped that the makers would live up with the expectations.

DGP stresses for intensified investigation to track down each & every person involved in supporting terror activities

JAMMU: Director General of Police, J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh on Friday visited the Border areas of JK's Rajouri district and reviewed security scenario of the area. Accompanied by ADGP Jammu Shri Mukesh Singh DGP was received by DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Shri Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal and SSP Rajouri Shri Amritpal Singh. SSP Jammu Sh Chandan Kohli and CO IR 2nd BN Sh Randeep Kumar were also present. 

DGP during his visit took stock of the prevailing security situation of the District particularly the infiltration attempts, Narco trade and drone activities from across the border. While interacting with the jurisdictional officers, he directed for strengthening of the security grid by activating Naka checking points on different routes to track the movements of militants and their supporters. JAMMU: In its endeavour to promote off beat tourist destinations and rural tourism in Jammu region, the Directorate of Tourism Jammu is organizing maiden two Day ‘Sinthan Festival 2023’ at Sinthan Kishtwar. As a part of the upcoming festivities at Sinthan Kishtwar, a Bike Rally was flagged off from Jammu to Sinthan Kishtwar today. A group of about 30 bikers was flagged off amid loud chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ from Kala Kendra Jammu by Deputy Director Tourism Jammu Dr. Umesh Shan along with Assistant Director Tourism NHW Batote Ms Ambika Bali and other officials of the Tourism Department.

Dr Samoon lays foundation stone for workshop block, 50 bedded hostel at ITI Charar-e-Sharief

He stressed on providing skilled training to local youth under different trades saying that handholding of skilled youth shall open economic resources and employment avenues for them.

SMVDSB successfully conducts mock drill exercises to take stock of Disaster Preparedness

KATRA: Disaster Management has been one of the priority areas of the Board in view of difficult terrain and topography of the Shrine area. In a bid to enhance preparedness for disaster management, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board conducts trainings and joint mock drill exercises from time to time with stakeholders to check the alertness and response mechanism in the event of any disaster like eventuality to ensure quick and most effective response from all concerned.

Accordingly, under the overall guidance of Hon’ble Chairman, SMVDSB (Hon’ble Lt. Udaan 2023: The annual cultural festival of CUJ begins

JAMMU: The annual cultural festival of CUJ, Udaan 2023 organised under the aegis of the Office of Dean Students' Welfare at Central University of Jammu began with fanfare in the university campus. The theme for this year's Udaan is Dekho Apna Desh, which reflects the rich cultural diversity and liberal inclusive environment of the university conceptualised under the dynamic patronage of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain.  Registrar Prof. Yashwant Singh and deans and faculty members from various departments were graced the inaugural ceremony along with a bustling body of students. Union MoS Darshana Jardosh reviews functioning of Handloom & Handicraft deptt

JAMMU: 'Dheeraj Kumar of Kathua district, after proving his mettle as a soldier in Navy, has emerged as victorious Agriprenuer setting an inspirational example for others to adopt farmer profession as a successful vocation'. Kumar has all praise for the Department of Horticulture Kathua for providing him financial as well as technical assistance and support besides acquainting him with their schemes.

According to an official of Horticulture Office Kathua, progressive farmer 'Dheeraj Kumar' hailing from Haripur village of Kathua, cultivates 3 different strawberry varieties including Camarosa, Winter Dawn and Nubila on 22 Kanal of land. Kumar says, out of the total investment of Rs.6 lakh, the department provided him a subsidy to the tune of Rs. 2.86 lakh which is nearly 50 per cent of the total investment. He is expecting to produce a yield worth Rs. 15-20 lakh which is in line with the PM’s vision of doubling the farmers’ income. He added that department has also provided him a subsidy on purchase of power tillers and installation of drip irrigation system.

24000 farmers attend first session of 4 month long Kisan Sampark Abhiyan

JAMMU: Receiving overwhelming response from the farming community across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir, more than 24000 farmers attended the orientation programme under KISAN SAMPARK ABHIYAN during the first 3-day session held across 264 venues of the Union Territory. A first of its kind massive farmer’s orientation exercise is being undertaken by Agriculture Production Department in the UT with an ambitious target of reaching out to farmers in each and every Panchayat of the UT under the Abhiyan in next 4 months.

The exercise which commenced on 24th April will conclude on 31st August, 2023. This ambitious farmers outreach program has been planned under the recently launched HOLISTIC AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (HADP).

Tele-MANAS helpline receives more than 10,000 calls since its launch in J&K

SRINAGAR: In a significant achievement towards providing quality mental healthcare for all, the UT level Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States (Tele -MANAS) cell, established at the Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS) Srinagar, has received more than 10,000 calls since its inception in Jammu and Kashmir. The first-of-its-kind mental health helpline, launched on November 4, 2022, is a three-tier system that has mental health counselors, clinical psychologists and psychiatrists available for patients’ calls.

Doctors at IMHANS informed that since its launch, they have received 10,000 calls including related to stress, drug addiction, suicidal tendencies and anxiety. Secretary, Health and Medical Education (H&ME), Bhupinder Kumar, while elaborating on the significance of Tele –MANAS cell in the UT, said that telemedicine is a broader concept and tele consultation is part of it. “People can call on toll-free number and seek advice on mental health issues. Since its launch, the number of calls have increased and the quality of calls also. People who took first consultation are calling for follow-ups also with psychologists and psychiatrists,” he said.

JAMMU: Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Justice N Kotiswar Singh, today inaugurated 40 hours (05 Days) Mandatory Mediation Training Programme for Advocates of various districts of Jammu province in presence of Justice Tashi Rabstan, Judge, High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Chairman, Mediation and Conciliation Committee at J&K Judicial Academy Jammu.

Delivering inaugural address, Chief Justice highlighted the significance of mediation not only in justice delivery system but also in day to day life of an individual. He stated that with growing economy, disputes are inevitable and judiciary is unable to cope up with the mounting arrears because of various reasons, so the alternate modes of resolving disputes assume all the more importance to reduce the arrears and save the social fabric of our nation.

Dr Arun Kumar Mehta launches 3 online initiatives of Revenue Department

JAMMU: Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta today launched 3 online services of the Revenue and Registration Departments. The services include Downloading of Registered Document, Aadhaar based authentication and online portal of Evacuee Property. The launch was attended by Financial Commissioner Revenue Shaleen Kabra, Commissioner Secretary IT Prerna Puri and Secretary Revenue Dr. Piyush Singla, IGR J&K Sheikh Arshad Ayub, Custodian General Rajesh Sharma and other officers of the Revenue Department.

The feature of online downloading will enable citizens to have access to the copy of registered document immediately upon registration and thus, shall no longer have to visit the Sub Registrar Office on the next day to collect it. This shall save time and effort of the citizens as well as substantially reduce the burden on the official staff. This will further entail the change in PSGA timelines from 2 days to a single day.

Div Com Kashmir conducts late night site visit of ongoing  SSCL projects of  Srinagar city

SRINAGAR:  Div Com Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri conducted late night site visit & inspection of Srinagar Smart City Ltd (SSCL) developmental projects regarding upgradation of Footpaths, construction of Cycle tracks, macadamization of roads in preparation of G20 Summit. He was accompanied by CEO SSCL, Chief Engineer R&B, Chief Engineer Smart City, Police Officers and other concerned officers of SSCL.

During the visit, he took stock of beautification, upgradation and redevelopment work at Nishat, SKICC, Gupkar Junction, Residency  Road, Polo View and MA Road. He  emphasized on employing  concerted  efforts by engineering wings of SSCL & R&B to mobilize entire available  machinery & labour  to complete the on going  projects in a double quick pace.

GCOE organises awareness-cum-orientation program on Organ Donation

JAMMU: NSS unit of Government College of Education, Jammu, in collaboration with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, organised an awareness programme on the State Organ and Tissue Transplant organization. The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Aekta Gupta, Principal, GCOE.

In the first session, Dr. Rajinder Kour delivered a lecture on RCEM approach to the students of semester 4. Students, Teachers and non teaching staff of the college participated in the program. The awareness program offered a platform to all students and faculty of the college to get aware about taking several steps to increase awareness on organ donation in the society. These include dissemination of information by SOTTO  latest technology being used by organ donation and transplant professionals everyday to save lives through transplantation.

Secretary Health e-reviews JK e Sahaj: NHM releases ranking of Public Health facilities for March 2023

SRINAGAR: Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar, today reviewed progress on Hospital Management Information System (JK e Sahaj) in J&K with the concerned authorities through virtual mode. Director, NHM, J&K, Ayushi Sudan, briefed the Secretary about the progress of JK e Sahaj since the inception of the project in the UT, which is under implementation in 578 public health facilities.

Secretary gave on spot directions for starting of Laboratory modules in all the tertiary care hospitals and District Hospitals within a months time. He also directed for expansion of use of QR Code based registration service Scan and Share under ABDM in all the tertiary and District Hospitals that will allow the patients to skip the queue for directly collecting their OPD slip for consultation as their details are already present at the registration counter.

National Conference on India@G20:  Lt Governor highlights priorities, prospects and way forward for creating inclusive & sustainable society

G20 University Connect Conference to be held at Jammu on April 26, 2023
