COVID-19: JK reports 704 fresh positive cases, 1 death from Jammu division

JAMMU / SRINAGAR: The Government today informed that 704 fresh  positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19) have been reported today; 210 from Jammu division and 494 from Kashmir division, thus taking the total number of positive cases to 464766. Also, 01 COVID death has been reported from Jammu division.

Moreover, 555 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 229 from Jammu division and 326from Kashmir division. According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 464766 positive cases, 4859are Active Positive (1788 in Jammu Division and 3071in Kashmir Division), 455136 have recovered and 4771 have died; 2342 in Jammu division and 2429 in Kashmir division.

J&K Police is most versatile force with admirable record of service to nation: LG

GANDERBAL: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today attended the Attestation cum Passing out Parade of the 15th Basic Recruit Training Course Batch of J&K Police Constables at Police Training School, Manigam. A total of 538 new recruits have completed their rigorous training today at the PTS Manigam. Out of 538, 360 brave constables have already served as SPOs.

An oath was administered to the passing out cadets for performing their duties with dedication and honesty. The Lt Governor took the Rashtriya Salute and inspected the parade, besides taking the salute at an impressive March Past by the contingents. He also felicitated the cadets who excelled during their training course.

Tribal Affairs Department finalises modalities for 25 new hostels

SRINAGAR: The Tribal Affairs Department (TAD) today finalised modalities for establishment of 25 new hostels for students at block level in various districts and steps for completion of more than 10 languishing hostel projects, aimed at providing much required residential facilities for education of tribal students both in cities and remote rural areas.

The proposals were finalised in a meeting chaired by the Secretary, Tribal Affairs, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary which was attended, among others, by Special Secretary TAD, Mohammad Harun Malik, Director, Tribal Affairs Department, Mushir Ahmed Mirza, Jt Director Planning, Shama un Ahmed, Dy Director TRI, Dr Abdul Khabir, Asstt Director Sushil Kumar and technical officers.

SRINAGAR: The District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner), Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad today convened a meeting with representatives of various political parties to discuss the rationalization of Polling Stations/Booths of all 8 Assembly Segments in Srinagar District at Banquet Hall, here.  During the meeting, detailed deliberations were held over the proposed Draft of Polling Stations to record comments of Political Parties for rectification.

 Speaking on the occasion, the District Election Officer said that the proposal of rationalization of polling stations/booths has been created keeping in view the convenience of the voters and must include all essential facilities, besides on the basis of encouraging voter turnout. He said any new proposal by political parties that falls within the norms will be considered and approved.

COVID-19:  JK reports 703 fresh positive cases; 2 deaths from Jammu division

JAMMU / SRINAGAR: The Government today informed that 703 fresh positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19) have been reported today; 209 from Jammu division and 494 from Kashmir division, thus taking the total number of positive cases to 464062. Also, 02 COVID deaths have been reported from Jammu division.

Moreover, 458 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 212 from Jammu division and 246 from Kashmir division. According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 464062 positive cases, 4711 are Active Positive (1808 in Jammu Division and 2903 in Kashmir Division), 454581 have recovered and 4770have died; 2341 in Jammu division and 2429 in Kashmir division.

IIED Centre of NIT Srinagar bags Best Innovation Council award from MoE

SRINAGAR: The Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IIEDC) of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar has bagged  ‘Best Innovation Council Award’ of North West Region by the Innovation Cell of Ministry of Education (MoE) in Jaipur. The Innovation Cell of MoE had organized Institutions Innovation Council (IIC) regional meet for North West Zone including Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Chandigarh, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh in Amity University Jaipur.

There were two categories of awards floated by MoE for Best IIC Institute and Best Innovation Prototype. Among 450 registered IIC institutes in the North West region, 117 institutes participated in Journey and Achievements of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for the year 2021-2022.

JAMMU / SRINAGAR: The Government on Friday informed that 727 fresh  positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19) have been reported today; 206 from Jammu division and 521 from Kashmir division, thus taking the total number of positive cases to 463359. Also, 02 COVID deaths have been reported; 01 from Jammu division and 01 from Kashmir division.

Moreover, 572 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 346fromJammu division and 226from Kashmir division. According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 463359 positive cases, 4468 are Active Positive (1813in Jammu Division and 2655in Kashmir Division), 454123 have recovered and 4768 have died; 2339 in Jammu division and 2429 in Kashmir division.

MVD to link Pollution Under control Certificate with Vahan portal: Transport Commissioner

SRINAGAR: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) will soon link Pollution Under Control Certificate with Vahan portal. This was disclosed by Transport Commissioner, J&K, Bhupinder Kumar while chairing a review meeting of the officers of the Motor Vehicle Department.

Transport Commissioner directed the RTOs/ARTOs to immediately mobilise the resources to ensure that all the Pollution Checking Centres in their jurisdiction are made online and integrated with Vaahan. NIC was asked to immediately provide technical support, wherever required, so that the linking of PUC with Vahan is ensured by 15, August 2022.

Progressing J&K - Saubhagya Scheme providing electricity connections to un-electrified households of rural areas across J&K

JAMMU: Saubhagya scheme has successfully provided last mile electricity connections to all un-electrified households in rural areas of J&K besides providing Solar Photo Voltaic (SPV) based standalone system for un-electrified households located in remote and inaccessible villages/habitations across Jammu and Kashmir.

The J&K Power Department Development proactively worked hard in ensuring electrification to every village which is visible from the fact that almost 3,57,405 households have been electrified in whole UT till date.

Govt. develops online facility for citizens to register, download Golden cards

SRINAGAR: To achieve 100% saturation of Golden cards, the Government has developed online facility for the citizens of J&K through which they can register for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY)-SEHAT scheme and download their golden cards at the comfort of their homes.

The citizens have to visit website setu.pmjay.gov.in and register themselves with details of ration card issued by Food and Supply Department, J&K and Aadhar Card and download their Golden cards. The initiative has been taken to ensure all the citizens get golden cards which provide 5 Lakh health insurance cover.

LG directs IIT Jammu & HED to engage with fellows on regular basis to address their concerns

JAMMU: The Director General of Police J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh who is on visit to Jammu Division  visited Kahtua today where he chaired a crime review meeting at DPL Kathua and attended progrmmes in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Maha Utsav organized by IRP 19th BN. The crime meeting  was attended by SSP Kathua, Ramesh Chander Kotwal, Principal PTS Kathua, Shri Roop Raj,all SDPOs, SHOs and other officers. 

While addressing the crime meeting at DPO Kathua, the DGP said that the jurisdictional officers must take all the measures to improve investigation and disposal of cases. He stressed upon the officers to speed up the disposal of all pending cases and directed that quality of investigation and disposal of these cases has to be improved for increasing the conviction rate.

SAMBA:  Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today launched the “Green Jammu & Kashmir Drive” here from AIIMS Vijaypur. The target for the current year is planting of 1.5 cr saplings. To mark the day, the Lt Governor felicitated Village Panchayat Plantation Committees for outstanding performance in plantation drives in their respective panchayats. Notified Jammu and Kashmir Social Forestry (Plantation) Rules-2022 were also unveiled on the occasion.

The Lt Governor reiterated the J&K government’s commitment towards sustainable management of rich natural wealth to combat climate change and ensure a better future for younger generations. “Protection & conservation of natural resources and striking a perfect balance between nature & development is our top most priority”, said the Lt Governor.

While reviewing the progress on ongoing admission process, the Principal Secretary stressed upon the participants that the last date of admissions should be fixed so that the students of all Boards including CBSE get adequate opportunity for admission to colleges and universities here. “Our priority is to streamline the admission process and examination process, and ensure that no candidate should be deprived of admission in any college of Jammu and Kashmir”, Kansal remarked.

Also, 01 COVID death has been reported from Kashmir division.

Moreover, 443 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 231 from Jammu division and 212from Kashmir division. According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 462633positive cases, 4316are Active Positive (1954in Jammu Division and 2362in Kashmir Division), 453551have recovered and 4766 have died; 2338 in Jammu division and 2428 in Kashmir division.

J&K, through innovation, implementation and inclusion is setting unprecedented benchmarks in digital initiatives and leading by example in Prime Minister’s Digital India campaign.

Pertinently, J&K is number one in the ranking of UTs in e-governance. Host of initiatives like E-office, BEAMS, Awam ki Awaaz, MyGov, e-Unnat, Digilocker, Aapki Zameen Aapki Nigrani have brought transparency & accountability in governance and made transformational changes in the lives of people. As many as 209 government services have been integrated with Rapid Assessment System for real time feedback of citizens.

CS reviews adoption & implementation of iGOT Karmayogi in J&K

SRINAGAR: Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta today convened a meeting to review the adoption and implementation of iGOT Karmayogi in J&K. The meeting was on National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building (Mission Karmayogi) which is being complemented by Integrated Government Online Platform popularly known as iGOT Karmayyogi.

The meeting was attended by the Director General, J&K IMPARD, Saurabh Bhagat, Director Trainings IMPAm Dr. J. A. Conference on NEP-2020 concludes at P.S.P.S. Govt. PG College for Women, Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU: the 2-Day conference on New Education Policy (NEP) - 2020 concluded today here at P.S.P.S. Govt. PG College for women, Gandhi Nagar. The Conference was an initiative of the Department of Higher Education and the colleges which hosted this landmark and momentous conference for the first time in Jammu division were Govt. Also, 02 COVID deaths have been reported; 01 from Jammu division and 01 from Kashmir division.

Moreover, 432 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals including 223 from Jammu division and 209 from Kashmir division. According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 461947positive cases, 4074are Active Positive (1923in Jammu Division and 2151in Kashmir Division), 453108 have recovered and 4765have died; 2338 in Jammu division and 2427 in Kashmir division.

Involved in duping a Baramulla man for ₹36.35 lacs, Police arrests 2 Nigerian fraudsters from New Delhi

KASHMIR:  Cyber Police Kashmir Zone in its recent action against fraudsters have arrested 02 Nigerian fraudsters from New Delhi involved in duping a  man from Baramulla for ₹36.35lacs in an online scam. Police received a written application from a resident of Baramulla alleging therein that while surfing Facebook, he came in contact with some unknown fake Facebook user T.Jessica, who impersonated as a purchase manager of a renowned pharmaceutical company Abbott.

The said lady enticed the complainant through Facebook messages that she has been promoted as Secretary in the said company and eventually asked the complainant to start a business of (Kandu Nut/Palm Seeds/Sea Nuts). The complainant was convinced/motivated by using fake offers, orders, high returns and emails etc. to purchase the said product.

Progressing J&K - J&K on a mission to become largest clean energy-producing UT

JAMMU: J&K is on a mission to become one of the largest clean energy-producing UT in the country with an objective to reduce dependency on conventional sources of energy and enable J&K in attaining self-sufficiency in its energy needs. J&K Government recognizes that renewable energy can also significantly increase J&K’s and the Nation’s energy security.

To achieve this milestone, the work is going on to implement the Government of India’s Grid-connected Rooftop Solar Scheme, Phase-II for the residential sector in Jammu to ensure that the electricity needs of the city are fully met from solar energy.

Government has taken several initiatives for the development of Jammu & Kashmir

NEW DELHI: The Government has taken several initiatives for the development of Jammu & Kashmir, some of which are: - 1. The progress of projects being implemented in the UT of Jammu   and Kashmir under the Prime Minister's Development Package-2015 has been accelerated. 53 projects pertaining to 15 Ministries are being implemented at a cost of Rs.58,477 crores in various sectors such as Roads, Power, Health, Education, Tourism, Agriculture, Skill Development etc., out of which 29 projects have been completed/ substantially completed and the remaining projects are at advanced stage of progress.

Progressing J&K -  Digital Initiatives launched in J&K easing the life of common masses

JAMMU: Jammu & Kashmir has embarked on an unprecedented developmental trajectory since August 2019, wherein transformational initiatives in all sectors have been launched with the aid of information technology to ease the life of people. One such reformative measure is ‘Budget Estimation and Allocation Monitoring System (BEAMS)’. It empowered the J&K citizens to oversee works being executed in their areas on a real time basis.

The administration has successfully implemented innovative initiatives in this regard which inter alia included BEAMS, online submission of bills through J&K PaySys, mandatory administrative approvals, technical sanctions and e-tendering, digital payments, GFR, GeM and related measures which have greatly helped the financial systems in J&K to be at par with any other developing financial system in the country.

State Health Agency rolls out ambitious door to door campaign to achieve 100% AB-PMJAY SEHAT saturation by August end

SRINAGAR:  State Health Agency (SHA) has rolled out an ambitious door-to-door exercise to achieve 100 percent saturation under the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY SEHAT scheme by the end of August month. Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education, M K Diwedi in a high-level meeting directed for launching result-oriented door- to -door campaigns in all areas of J&K for 100 percent saturation by end of August this year.

He impressed upon the Chief Medical Officer and Block Medical Officers to employ all the resources including Asha workers for reaching out to left out population from ambitious welfare programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today expressed gratitude towards the Government of India and Hon’ble Union Power Minister Sh RK Singh for sanctioning Phase-I package of Rs 5641.91 Cr for complete revamp, strengthening of the power distribution infrastructure under Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) in both Urban & Rural Areas of J&K.

The Lt Governor termed the sanctioning of the Phase-I as a significant development in the power sector in the UT which will ensure uninterrupted and reliable power supply to the citizens of J&K. The Lt Governor was speaking at an event organized to mark the beginning of ‘Ujjwal Bharat-Ujjwal Bhavishya, Power @2047’ celebrations in J&K, at SP College, Srinagar.

ACB arrests Junior Assistant, Orderly for accepting bribe of ₹4000

SRINAGAR: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) received a complaint against Mushtaq Ahmad Mir posted in tehsil office Baramulla  for allegedly demanding bribe of ₹4000 from complainant  for settling his case pending disposal with Tehsil office Baramulla etc.

It was found  that a case was filed by Police Station Baramulla against complainant and other under sec 109 CrPC with tehsil office Baramulla on 05-08-2021 which was pending disposal with tehsil office and for which the Junior Assistant posted in the tehsil office Baramulla namely Mushtaq Ahmad Mir who was handling the case file  demanded bribe of Rs 4000 from complainant through orderly Khalida Tugoo posted in the same office. Under these circumstances the complainant approached the ACB and requested for taking necessary legal action against the accused Public servant .

Progressing J&K - Govt. giving significant push to hydroelectric power generation across J&K

JAMMU: The J&K government is giving a significant push to generation of hydroelectric power with projects of more than 6300 MW capacity in pipeline for making UT of J&K power surplus. To improve the current power capacity substantially, J&K has initiated a large-scale capacity augmentation programme. In 70 years, J&K was able to harness only 3500 MW, and now generation capacity is set to be doubled in four years and tripled in seven years.

Since August 2019, 2451 MVA has been added to the total capacity as compared to the 8394 MVA capacity achieved in seven decades. J&K Government launched various initiatives to strengthen and improve power infrastructure in the UT which had remained dilapidated for the last several decades.
