Police books notorious fraudster/land grabber under PSA in Budgam

SRINAGAR: Acting tough against the habitual offenders, trespassers and land-grabbers, Police in Budgam have booked a notorious fraudster identified as Ms. Shoki wife of Ghulam Rasool Dar@ Las Shikari resident of Gangbugh Srinagar under Public Safety Act for her unrelenting involvement in criminal/anti-social activities and deceiving/looting the gullible people. During the course of investigation, it came to learn that the booked lady has been continuously deceiving, befooling and looting the gullible people with her craftiness. Besides, she was also found involved in forcible trespassing the land of people on the pretext of land deals and grabs the same through deceitful means.

My Youth My Pride- District Reasi Cricket championship commences

JAMMU: In continuation to the   multiple sports activities being organised across J&K under the My Youth My Pride campaign, a cricket tournament was inaugurated today in the district Reasi. Thirty two teams drawn from the different areas of the district are participating in the event organised  to explore the local talent. The tournament was inaugurated by DDC Chairman Saraf Singh, who encouraged the players to work hard in their respective sports disciplines and applauded the Sports Council for organizing sports activities in the district at such a large scale.

Commending the efforts of all the stakeholders, scientists, officers, and farmers for the holistic development of the sericulture sector in J&K, the Lt Governor said the workshop will serve as an effective tool to provide a platform for sharing of knowledge of latest technologies and details of government schemes to stakeholders for increasing productivity of silk in the UT.

J&K receives felicitations for excelling in UN SDG during past couple of years

NEW DELHI: In yet another significant accomplishment, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has received felicitations for its remarkable contribution towards achieving 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during last couple of years.

Secretary, Mining Department, Amit Sharma, received the honour on behalf of J&K government during a felicitation ceremony held in this regard. He also participated in a power-packed panel discussion, along with Secretaries of States like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Goa and Maharashtra, on achieving carbon neutrality and sharing perspectives towards eco sensitivities in respective states and UTs for saving planet earth. Also, Goa Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh were also felicitated on the occasion.

State Investigation Agency Jammu conducts raids in Rajouri, Poonch 

JAMMU: State Investigation Agency (SIA) Jammu today on 28.09.2022 conducted multiple raids and searches of houses of suspected persons situated at different locations in district Poonch and Rajouri respectively. 

The three teams carried out simultaneous search / raids in different areas of Rajouri and Poonch at village Dharati, tehsil Balakote, village Kuniyan, tehsil Haveli Poonch and village Julass, tehsil Haveli in connection with Case FIR No 02/2022 P/S JIC/SIA Jammu relating to terror funding cases and  OGW network active in the area.

Multi-Storey Car Parking Project to come up at existing Bus Stand in Doda town

The Multi Storey Car Parking would cater to the need of Bus Stand as well as parking of other commercial and private vehicles. The project has provision of new shops also.

Specialised Training Session hosted for School Students at Jammu Tawi Golf Course

JAMMU: The First ever Golf Academy in Jammu was inaugurated earlier this year by   Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha at Jammu Tawi Golf course, Sidhra with a vision to promote the game of Golf and make it more accessible for the youth. The management of Jammu Tawi Golf course has been conducting free camps for students in which about 20 students from Government Schools across Jammu, on a daily basis are learning the game of Golf. Golf Academy training format reserves a 20 days specialized training program for students aged between 8 to 18 years. The training focuses on learning of basic skills to play golf accompanied by the understanding of the rules and format of the game. The training is being imparted to the students by NGAI certified coach, Rohit Gupta.

JAMMU: Chief Secretary Dr Arun Kumar Mehta chaired a review meeting of the power sector in Jammu & Kashmir at the Civil Secretariat today. The Chief Secretary was informed about the status of 1.15 lakh smart meters being installed in Jammu and Srinagar cities in addition to the additional 6 lakh meters to be installed subsequently. It was informed that 91% of the installed smart meters are already communicating and more than 64 thousand of those meters have been billed by June 2022.

Progressing J&K - J&K emerging as leader under implementation of PMEGP, establishes 21640 units with capital of around Rs 2100 crs

JAMMU: After the Centre’s major push to local manufacturing, J&K Government has established 21,640 units under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) exceeding the target by a massive 544% with total capital of Rs 2101 crore across Jammu and Kashmir. The PMEGP has worked wonders for Jammu and Kashmir and the UT leads ahead of all other states in self-employment opportunities under the PMEGP.

SRINAGAR:  The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole on Monday informed that 46000 trucks and trailers have moved from Qazigund towards Jammu in which 29000 are Apple trucks in alternate day convoys from Sep 01 to Sep 25. While 3995 Apple trucks moved towards Jammu yesterday, only. Div Com asserted that normally apple production in Kashmir is 17 metric tons but due to abundant rainfall, there has been a bumper crop and it will cross 21 metric ton this time.

In a single year the Under Five Mortality Rate (U5MR) in the UT has decreased from 21 to 17 points per 1000 live births, Neo natal Mortality rate from 15 to 12, Early Neo Natal Mortality Rate from 10 to 08 and Sex Ratio at birth increased from 918 to 921 as per the Sample Registration System (SRS) Statistical Report 2020 released on 22nd September 2022 by Registrar General of India (RGI).

My Youth My Pride - Sports activities being held from dawn to dusk

JAMMU: As Phase II of My Youth My Pride initiative entered 3rd day in district Samba, a Table Tennis event was organized in Indoor Stadium Samba, to engage more youth in sports activities and to provide a platform to showcase their skills. Around 50 tennis players from the district competed in different age categories. The knockout matches of the championship were in progress when the reports last came in.
