Govt fixes quantity limit of food commodities for wholesaler, retailer

JAMMU, NOV 25: Under a notification issued here the Government has fixed the maximum quantity of pulses, paddy, edible oils, edible seeds, rice and wheat that can be possessed by a wholesaler and a retailer at any point in time.

According to this notification issued by Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution Department, Civil Secretariat, a wholesaler can posses 200 quintals of pulses at any point in time and a retailer 20 quintals of it. Similarly wholesaler can hold 500 quintals of paddy while as retailer can posses 200 quintals of it. A wholesaler can posses 300 quintals of edible oils of all brands and a retailer 25 quintals. The edible oil seeds weighing 500 quintals can be held by a wholesaler and 15 quintals by a retailer while as 200 quintals each of rice and wheat can be possessed by a wholesaler while as a retailer can hold 30 quintals of rice and 15 quintals of wheat at any point in time.
