Finally JK gets two Central Universities

The efforts of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to seek two Central Universities for Jammu and Kashmir to meet the aspirations of people in all the divisions of the State, have born fruits and Government of India approved the two Universities for Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing gratitude to UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and Union Human Resources Development Minister, Kapil Sibal for the people friendly gesture of granting two Universities to the State, Omar said that the decision depicts UPA Government commitment and keenness for the welfare and development of Jammu and Kashmir.
“This has also addressed the sensitivities to and aspirations of the people of all the regions”, he said and advised the politicians to shun the practise of playing regional and communal politics on sensitive and important issues of People’s interest.
“In no way regional, communal or divisive politics is answer to any issue, we have given assurance for two Central Universities and the result of our efforts is before the people”, he said reiterating that his way of working is to prove the point by actions silently and without making noises and raising slogans.
Omar said his government with the active support of UPA Government in the Centre is committed for equitable distribution of resources and balanced development of all the regions and sub-regions of the State. Describing Jammu and Kashmir epitome of secularism, brotherhood and communal harmony, Chief Minister said that National Conference Congress coalition government will always work to uphold the rich traditions and values of the State. Omar expressing dismay on the attitude of certain political parties who tried to incite the student and people to take a path which affected the academics adding that his style to work silently and achieve goals will continue for the welfare of the state and its people.
