WG meeting of Rehabilitation Council held

596 scholarships given; Rs. 9.83 cr provided for rehabilitation of migrants, widows  
As many as 596 children of victims of militancy-related incidents have been provided scholarships amounting Rs. 30.46 lakh. Besides, the government has also provided Rs. 8.35 crore for rehabilitation of migrants and Rs. 1.48 crore for welfare of the widows by February end this year.
This information was given in a meeting of Working Group for rehabilitation of militancy-affected people today, held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Mr. S. S. Kapur.  
Commissioner/Secretary, Finance, Mr. Sudanshu Pandey, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Masaud Samoon, Commissioner/Secretary, General Administration Department Mr. Basharat Ahmad Dhar, Secretary, Revenue, Mr Aijaz Iqbal, Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Ms. Tanvir Jehan, Chairman, ehabilitation Council, Mr Vinod Koul, Special Secretary, Home, Mr Farooq Ahmad and Special Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Zaffar Ahmad were present in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary stressed upon ensuring total transparency in the implementation of the scheme so that the goal of holistic rehabilitation of the victims is achieved.
Mr. Kapur issued instructions that the Deputy Commissioners of all the districts in the State should be asked to ascertain the identity of the victims so that benefits percolate to the real beneficiaries. He said that a Committee should be constituted under Director, Health Services, for considering enhancement of compensation paid to the injured militancy-related persons. He instructed for conducting fresh survey of the affected people so that same could be compiled and submitted to the government for necessary action.
