Omar returns to warm reception after performing Umrah

People from cross-sections of society felicitate CM for holy pilgrimage

Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah arrived here today after performing Umrah in the sacred city of Makkah in Saudi Arabia. He had proceeded for the holy pilgrimage on April 18, 2009.

The Chief Minister was warmly received by a large number of people from a cross-section of society at his residence here who had come to felicitate him on returning from the holy pilgrimage. 
A large number of National Conference workers, headed by the Provincial President, Jammu province, Mr. Rattan Lal Gupta, also felicitated Mr. Abdullah. These included party legislators, ex-legislators, senior leaders, office bearers and members of Youth & Women’s Wing.
The people presented bouquets to the Chief Minister who thanked them for their love and felicitation.
In his brief speech, the Chief Minister said that he had gone to the holy land to thank Almighty Allah for providing him the opportunity to serve his people and during his pilgrimage he prayed for the well being of the people of the State and return of peace and prosperity in Jammu & Kashmir.  
Mr. Abdullah thanked his party workers for running a successful election campaign in Jammu province for the ongoing Parliamentary elections in the Jammu Division and urged them to work harder for the next phases of election in Kashmir division. He said the party workers ran the election campaign with dedication and it had created a good atmosphere for the coalition parties to work together in the coming years. He said the party was working single-mindedly to win the three Lok Sabha seats in Kashmir valley. The Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah was also accorded a warm reception by the J&K Non-Gazetted employees Union led by Mr. Nazir Ahmed Mir , Mr .Gh. Mehdi and Mushtaq Hussain Khan at the Civil Secretariat on his arrival in his office after performing Umrah.
